Trivia
The movie “Killer Girls” portrays only women, even if men are mentioned as accessory to the storyline. Stefano Spadoni wrote the script on purpose in that way because he and Jason think that more opportunities should be given to women to appear as leading actors in movies.
Stefano Spadoni directed the entire movie remotely to prove its point that a movie can be directed remotely. He never met in person any of the actors.
Just 4 actors met in person, each one just with just another actor, and only for the necessary interactive shooting. All the other actors did not interact with each other neither in person or remotely. Not even seeing other actors’ pictures or hearing other actors’ voices.
Some actors where fully filmed remotely (including their vertical videos), others were filmed directly by Jason Paluck in New York with Stefano Spadoni directing remotely.
The technical concept of the movie was created by Stefano Spadoni during the Covid19 pandemic as a way to still shooting movies while having actors and director not being able to meet each other in person.
It took Stefano Spadoni one month to write the first draft of the script of Killer Girls. Another month to achieve the final version.
Stefano Spadoni and Jason Paluck have been always convinced that there are thousands of unknown talented actors around the world who just need a chance to show their skills. Shooting and directly them remotely can give them a chance.
The casting of the movie Killer Girls was done using Backstage. 4607 talents applied resulting in 869 requested auditions.
Stefano Spadoni and Jason Paluck would have liked to cast worldwide, but they were advised not to do that because of the fiscal and contractual implications.
Stefano Spadoni, who supervised the casting, was very attentive to select actors who could fully identify and enjoy playing the controversial characters. Before the shooting, he spent hours rehearsing with each selected actor, making sure that they were understanding the psychology behind the characters.
The movie has an international cast. The actors are from China, India, Slovakia, Turkey, Nederland, not just from the USA. While Jason Paluck is an American born New Yorker, Stefano Spadoni was born, studied and lived in Italy before moving to the USA.
Nadia Rosa (Lauren) was the first to be filmed, and the temperature at the beach was actually cold, so the water.

The director and screenwriter Stefano Spadoni and the director of Photography and editor Jason Paluck, have been known each other for more than 10 years. While they have worked together several times in the past, this is their first full feature movie.
For the scene when Leah suggests Grace to wear yoga pants over her pink leotard, Stefano Spadoni and Jason Paluck looked for hours on the internet for yoga pants that would look funny. Finally they found the plaid yoga pants that Grace’s is putting on.
The knife and katana used in the movie, come from Jason Paluck’s personal extensive collection of knives and swords.
The male pants that Kristine Larsen (Grace) throws at her date (that we don’t see) in her final scene, are actually the pants of Thomas Aleixo, the production assistant.
Michaela Vybohova (Leah) felt a so close connection with her character that she actually enjoyed the lines of the character related to her being so obsessively skinny.
Kenya Clark (Jamie), just asked the director Stefano Spadoni what level of drunkenness she needed to show in her final crucial scene. The scene was not rehearsed and she nailed it on the first take.
Meghan Morris (Mary) is “killed” in the movie by her “real life sister” Peyton Morris, wearing red gloves. They had a lot of fun doing it.

Kristine Larsen (Grace) immediately liked her character and had a lot of fun portraying it in the movie. Paige Hall (Anna Luciani) is an incredible dancer as described in the script, but she is not living in Italy as indicated in the script. The TV program “Dancing with the Dancers” does not exist in Italy.
Denise Jeng Kwong (Stella) recorded all her video calls without interacting with the other actors including Michaela Vybohova (Leah). She met her only for filming the encounter scene and the final scene.
The encounter between Denise Jeng Kwong (Stella) and Michaela Vybohova (Leah) was filmed in New York near the Vessel, the staircase to nowhere, a symbolism related to the movie plot.
